Frenulectomy
Frenulectomy (also called a frenectomy) is a surgical operation related to the frenulum of the penis. This procedure can be offered as part of the initial circumcision procedure, and also as a stand alone surgery to correct any abnormalities.
Frenulectomy
Some adults may opt to have a Frenuloplasty to lengthen the frenulum – however, this has a very high failure rate and therefore, we do not offer this to our clients as most have to then go for a formal frenulectomy.
A frenulectomy is often necessary for those with a tight frenulum. Often patients who come in for a circumcision for phimosis (tight foreskin) will have the frenulum removed as part of the procedure.
Operation
The procedure is carried out under a Local Anaesthetic, and you will not have any pain during the procedure. It takes most Adults 6-8 weeks for recovery, but most Adults can return to work within 2-3 days. You avoid any sexual activity for 6 weeks.
