- Oral painkillers for the 1st 48 hours. Ibuprofen +\- Co-Codamol - see instructions on packet on frequency and dose and any potential side effects
- Antibiotics for ONE WEEK - Augmentin ONE tablet 8 Hourly. Twenty one tablets in total. Augmentin is a form of Penicillin and should be avoided if you are Allergic to Penicillin
- Keep the Dressing for the first 7 days. If it causes any problems email the Dr directly and he will advise you what to do. You can shower, but apply a condom on before the shower and remove once finished. If this is not appropriate you can cover it with anything that is waterproof.
- Once this dressing comes off in one weeks time, shower normally without any dressing, use the iodine to gently wipe the wound once daily using the small gauze supplied x1 per day for ONE week.
- There should be no bleeding on the first couple of days. If there is, use the sterile non-woven swabs to apply pressure by wrapping it. If it still doesn’t stop then contact 999 and go to casualty department straight away. If you live local to us then please contact us on the day of surgery if there’s any immediate bleeding after going home.
